Located in the mountains west of West Lake in a small village, the Banyan Art House is an intimate but very comfortable place with beautiful rooms, especially on the second floor. It is filled with many works of art, but I most enjoyed the series of small square paintings.throughout the common space. Lisa was super nice and helpful, and the waffle, fruit, egg and cucumber salad a great breakfast. But of course, the special green tea grown in the surrounding mountains was plentiful and so good! The blooming lotus and other flowers in the small lakes across the street are a great place to do outdoor drawing and painting, so I will be back. I saw a beautiful, big white crane when admiring the landscape.

The owners provided no help or service at all, and didn't even bother to pretend to ask. They also did not introduce the limited services they do provide. The only thing they both did introduce, even separately, is a nearby restaurant, which I suspect is related or even owned by them. Both the room and the bathroom were stinky; furniture, toilet and bed linen worn out or broken. The bed sheet had many holes on it. After requesting for it to be replaced, they simply put another one, also full of holes, on top of the original one.

The location is further out, not ideal for transportation and local Bus...just not easy for foreigners.... It was a great location if you want to get out from the city craziness. The owner was very nice, very responsive when it comes to questions and providing directions. But at night time, we keep hearing this loud banging noise, which makes our sleep unpleasant. Next morning, we realized it was the kitchen door...people walking in and out making this banging noise. Overall, a nice experience other than the noise and some small reservation issue.
