Hotel Trio Indah 2 Malang

Hotel and staff are very nice. The room are very comfy.

The good: comfortable bed, air conditioning, clean linen, complimentary tea, water and kettle to use. Breakfast was delicious, with lots of different foods to choose from. The bad: we could hear so much noise outside, from the rain, to other guests walking past or talking outside, to crying children in the middle of the night. The shower was either dangerously scalding hot or cold, no in-between. The ugly: Flies on the food at breakfast because it wasn't covered. Staff all heads down in their phone, so you felt like you were disturbing them when needing something.

The hotel is a verry good looking hotel. It is also used for official comites. Due to the early wake up time of the locals, activities for these comites might start early e.g. 6 am. However, this is not verry disturbing. The hotel staff is extremely helpfull. Without announcement of an early check-in, they arranged a room for us ti stay in. They also booked a tour to the Bromo Vulcano and a private driver to the airport at reasonable price, but above all; at short notice. Having a late arriva for breakfast was a little dissapointing, due to not topping up the buffet. The room is verry clean and neat. Nice airco and wifi.

To be honest looking out over a broken part of building & building site was uninspiring. The room was tired, as was the hotel, average at beast. It was also noisy with little noise insulation. At least the staff were friendly which was one positive.

Hotel Trio Indah 2 is not centrally located, however it’s not far from the centre. Walking takes 10-15 minutes, for a taxi ride we paid 35000 rupiahs (minimum fare as of May 2016). Our room (213) officially had a window. Just like most rooms in this hotel, its door and small window opened to a covered foyer, which was quite dark already. As a result, there was not enough natural light in the room. The room was not big, but also not too small. However the bathroom was small to an extent that the sink was outside the bathroom. The bed was OK as was the A/C. Internet (free wi-fi) was very slow. Breakfast had limited selection, taste was OK. Service was a bit lacking, we had to ask for clean plates for example. And service in general was quite a negative experience for us at Hotel Trio Indah 2. We had the same guy at reception both at check-in and check-out. And he just didn’t seem to care. We arrived past 3pm to be told that our room is not yet ready. When I reminded him that check-in was from 2pm, he just repeated “Please wait” with a plain voice. I enjoyed Malang and Mt. Bromo, so I hope to come back to Malang sometime, I’ll rather arrive without a reservation, but not book this hotel again. I gave this hotel a 2 rating, because if this was the only place with a free room, I’d still take it.
