Wont ever be staying here again, booked a last minute 2 night break to do some Christmas shopping in Chester.
Arrived around 11pm and we were greeted by the receptionist and given our room keys.
Before we got in to our room, there were 2 dirty glasses left on the windowsill in the hallway, these could have recently been left, but they were still there the next morning.
The building is old and has character, so much so that the doors dont fit in their doorcases and they tend to rattle and creak all night long, the door security chain was also broken and didnt work at all.
The bed was very comfortable and the room was warm, but it was also dirty.
Thick dust all over the sockets and fittings and lightbulbs etc...
I struggled to sleep with the numerous air conditioning units directly outside the window buzzing away all night and then we were woken by the sound of pipes clattering away somewhere.
The bathroom was very dated and in need of a deep clean, the mirror screws were held in with some earth wire insulation, the towel radiator connector was held together with lots of black insulation tape and the earth cable just hanging out of it. The soap dispenser was dirty and had rust marks around the rim.
Got in the shower in the morning and there was no hot water, the water was lukewarm at best and I don't like hot showers at the best of times.
I expected more from a supposedly 4 star hotel and was peeved at paying for what felt like contractors accomodation above an old pub.
The bed was extremely comfortable and the night shift staff were attentive and they provided great service.
The room was slighly cold. Shower water was honestly freezing. The sink was totally blocked. The side of the bath was broken & sharp and caused me hurting my leg.
Breakfast was booked for a certain slot yet there was only 3 vegetarian cooked items left! I actually paid for 2 breakfasts when I booked, but there were not enough for one.. NO-ONE were cleaning as other guests have left. A rag & antibacterial was left on a table for the duration of my breakfast and my salt shaker was terribly dirty with old sauce on it. It was very poor.

Oh dear McDonalds Blossom Hotels. It feels like you are about to shut down what a disappointing weekend break we had with you. During our stay I was invited to book in to the restaurant, when we asked about it we were told it’s been closed since 2019.
We paid hard earn money for a poor experience. Where to start
The hotel reception area smells of drains and is very unpleasant. The staff tried to be attentive.
Our room 109 was a good size with a comfy bed. The bathroom however had lots of black mould on the tile grout the shower fitting is just hanging on the wall by its pipes the bath plug take an age to drain away, the shower door is ineffective and let water seep all over the floor, the extract fan don’t work. We did not get our room serviced even when we left the door sign on asking for service.
Weekend breakfast is not worth your money. The food was not ready when guests arrived and after 25 minutes some left only having a bit of toast. It was really bad cheap sweet bread, mediocre coffee in a flask the condiments when available were in bowls that looked like they hadn’t been washed for days just refilled on top. Not appealing at all. The serving plates had seen better days. And not a single pasty available on Sunday morning. Other guest were seen shaking theirs heads in disappointment. Guest having to ask for food items to be refilled.
It is fair to say we will not be staying again.
Great location though.
Check in was great, staff helpful and kept our luggage safe until we could check in at the correct time. However, the room had a terrible outlook, overlooking a low wall that had public convenience tiles on it, with large holes. We went for a nightcap in the bar, but it had no Baileys and no brandy. Also, the coffee machine was not in operation, although the barman did get us some hot water and coffee sachets, which we didn't pay for as this was avaliable in our room. The hotel is in a fabulous location for shopping and viewing locations, but let down by the above.
Only stayed 1 night, but Chester is a beautiful City, hotel staff superb and extremely helpful, location was ideal, highly recommend, yes rooms are maybe a little dated but can't fault the place.
We have stayed at this hotel many tumes over the past years however i feel this now needs updating. It was not a very nice stay this time as the pillows where flat ,no extra in room or blanket,no water in the room and water machines in the hall not working. No phone to call reception. Hairdryer not working although receptionist told me that i needed to keep my finger on the button. There was no written information at all in the room either or contact number for reception ( i did find this when leaving the room in very small print on the back of the door .Shower gel getting a bit molded . Breakfast used to be served but now self service and cold. Very limited with low fat options
