We (small family from USA) arrived for our first time in Kyoto and felt like we were taking a chance on this house rental. We realized immediately how lucky we were to get to stay here. The home is absolutely beautiful, clean, quiet, charming, and in a wonderful location in the Gion district, close to lots of sites, restaurants, shops, and old world charm. We wished we could have stayed longer. In fact, after staying here we are contemplating moving to Kyoto for a year just to enjoy it more. The only caution I will share is the steep steps to the second floor. It is an old building. We navigated them fine but someone unsteady might need to be cautious. Otherwise the home is literally perfect. The hosts were gracious, and the cleaning service came once in the middle of our stay. We look forward to going back.

In the middle of the old quarters. Good connection by bus and/or taxi. Excellent private onsen. A place where you will love to stay. Place would benefit from providing a more full set of plates.

The location is excellent but the interior decoration is Japanese religiously related and scary. The house was dim especially the upper floor and the air condition is so strong and makes all together the atmosphere so scary. We are family with 2 kids and we have to sleep together in the small room with one double bed and one single bed, my husband slept in tatami. We (even the adults) both scared to go toilet in the mid night because the toilet was the darkest and most interior part of the house and located in the basement. The neighbor opposite to the house is not friendly, we get on the car in front of the house (just 1 or 2 mins parking and it was raining) and she asks us to go by crossing her hands.
