Stunning 3-bed Hot Tub Lodge, Northumberland

Arrived for a 2 night stay which should have been a nice couple of days before my son’s 3rd birthday. Pulling up the lodge looked good but then once going through the gate it started going downhill. There was overgrown weeds the moment you went through the gate, half empty bottles of prosecco, broken wine glass and beer bottle on the floor around the hot tub. The hot tub wasn’t cleaned and was full of debris and dead flies. Not good at all for a 2 year old to be around and shouldn’t have been up to me to clean up as soon as I got to the lodge. Inside the lodge is very normal nothing really looked bad. However the living and kitchen area is different to that on the listing. Different flooring, furniture and colour schemes. Simply things like the dining table been presentable just didn’t exist. There was no cleaning done inside the property just fresh towels on each bed. Cobwebs in every room, dust on plants, rubbish under and inside the sofa. 2x broken floorboards in the kitchen and bathroom which cause you to sink. No smoke alarm in the kitchen/living and the batteries were taken out of the carbon monoxide alarm. Front door lock is hard to lock, bathroom door doesn’t open properly and sink not secure. Far too many cosmetic issues to list which should be caught in regular maintenance. The host was very apologetic to which I think he’s being let down by his maintenance and cleaning contractors. Had the potential to be a very nice lodge again if given the TLC it needs.

Stay was ok, wasn’t cleaned before hand, was a mess, but last minute cleaners did come out at 5pm, the gate was broken and hot tub was dirty also didn’t get clean until the next day. Was supposed to stay extra day but decided leave day earlier as we didn’t find it safe due to locks was broken and bathroom window didn’t shut properly and during the night was banging with the wind,overall wouldn’t recommend staying here. Cleaners were nice and helpful but this should have been done before hand.

The cabin is far from as described and overpriced for the condition and cleanliness. The state of repair is poor - furniture both outside and inside is dated and in places broken. Hot tub had a dirty foam on the top - must have been used with fake tan/make up previously. The only good thing is that the owner is responsive and has said replacements have been made since our stay.
