EGYPTAIR Historical Highlights:

May 1932: EGYPTAIR was established to be the 7th airline in the world to join IATA.
August 1933: EGYPTAIR started commercial operations with the Spartan Cruiser between Cairo and Alexandria.
1935: EGYPTAIR fleet received 12 De Havilland. Also, the Egyptian government took over EGYPTAIR during WWII and changed its name to Misr Airlines.
1946: The airline name changed once again to MisrAir. Moreover, it purchased 10 Beechcraft.
1949: 10 Vickers Vikings were purchased.
1960: "United Arab Airlines” (UAA) was formed as Syrian Airlines merged with MisrAir. Later that year, UAA became the first airline in the Middle East to use Comet 4-C jets.
1968: UAA introduced the Boeing 707-320c, resulting in covering more international routes.
1969: UAA started operating Boeing 707s, as the first airline in the Middle East to hold this privilege.
1971: Syrian Airlines and MisrAir separated, resulting in the new name "EGYPTAIR".
July 2002: EGYPTAIR is announced as a Holding Company with 7 subsidiaries.
