SAUDIA Airlines - Historical Highlights:

• When SAUDIA was first established: It only owned a single twin-engine DC-3 (Dakota) HZ-AAX. In fact, it was a gift from former U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt to King Abdul Aziz.
• Months later: 2 more DC-3s were purchased.
• In 1946: SAUDIA was declared an operating agency of the Ministry of Defense.
• In 1954: SAUDIA purchased its first pressurized aircraft, 10 Convair 340s.
• In 1961: SAUDIA started flying to Sharjah and Tehran. Moreover, SAUDIA introduced in-Kingdom training programs and purchased 2 Boeing 720-Bs 
• In 1962: SAUDIA became the first airline in the region to operate a commercial jet using B720-Bs.
• In 2009: SAUDIA signed an agreement with SITA to upgrade the technical infrastructure and link 250 SV offices online in around 60 countries. Also, SAUDIA purchased its first Boeing 777 aircraft and received 2 Airbus 320s.
• In 2012: Saudia received 2 Boeing 777-300ERs and 20 aircraft from the American manufacturer. Later in the same year, it rejuvenated its identity with a new logo and slogan, “Welcome to Your World”. 
• In 2015: SAUDIA launched the SV2020 flight. Furthermore, SAUDIA has signed a deal to acquire 50 state-of-the-art Airbus aircraft, including 20 (A330-300s) Regional planes and 30  (A320s).
• In  2016: SAUDIA revealed its all-new luxurious first-class B777-300ER suite.
• In 2018: SAUDIA carried 16.8 million on 77,000 flights between January and April.
